Planting - Inventory

The Trees4Trees™ planting process includes labeling the trees as a basis for identification and developing a database of standing stock i.e. the location and inventory details relating to trees / planting plots within the forest plantation estate are recorded in the Trees4Trees™ planting database.

The planting inventory, subsequent monitoring system and records, are a feature of the Trees4Trees™ program which provides the Foundation with a comprehensive record of the tree plantings initiated through the program.

At present data is collected at planting, 3 and 12 months after planting and at annual monitoring intervals. This data set is a valuable record and will be used to inform decision making regarding tree planting activities and species selection associated with the program.

We also make an inventory of the existing standing stock (by species) on participating farmers’ land for tree diameters 20 cm-up.

The recording of this information assists the Trees4Trees™ team to build up a picture of the diameter classes within the plantation estate.

In the future this information will be invaluable to assist tree growers with the marketing of their timber resources.
