Site Inspection & Mapping
Trees4Trees™ team members meet with interested landholders to ascertain their intent and their site’s suitability for receiving support from the program. If the site and individual commitment is considered appropriate area mapping and data review is undertaken. We need to ensure that the area actually exists and review the data with these considerations:
- Legal aspect of the land
- Soil and species matching
- Land categorization (Eg.garden, trees plantation, demarcation; rice field, road)
- Percentage of tree cover of each plot of land
- Undertake a detailed site survey of the area
- Identify potential linkages to natural and or other vegetation
- Identify potential impacts associated with the establishment of the planting
- Identify potential for conflict associated with land ownership and or usage for the establishment of trees on the land. Develop mitigation actions to reduce the potential for future conflict.
Position of planting areas is recorded by GPS and planting maps are developed by the Trees4Trees™ team.
